Cool quiz: Where are you from?

Thanks to Frank Wilson for the link. The quiz nailed my dialect (born and raisedreared in Cleveland).

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

The Midland

The Northeast

Philadelphia

The South

The West

Boston

North Central

Hmmm ... it says that I too have an Inland North accent ... but I was born in south Arkansas and spent all my elementary school years living outside the US. My experience has shown that a persons accent is hard to change after age 12 or so ... (based on immigrants to the US who have and do not have vestiges of their native 'foreign' accents).

Maybe there is a 'US Standard' accent ...

Agree with John, Dick. I've lived in Southern California my entire life, and the %&@! quiz told me I sound like I'm from the Inland North.

Not.
