New comments policy

Online anonymity does not appeal to me. Until now, I have posted anonymous comments that have come in (it’s not like I’m flooded with them—hey, what’s wrong with you people anyway?), but when people feel they have to hide their identities in order to disagree with each other, something is wrong with the discourse.

Henceforth, here is my policy, which I have now posted in the blog sidebar:
Comments should be signed. If a technical glitch forces you to post as an anonymous user, please include a signature, which may be a fictitious name to protect your privacy. I will hold your comment and release it for posting after I receive an email from you claiming the comment and containing your real name. Otherwise, I reserve the right to discard your comment after twenty-four hours.
